We have come to a place now where our search for Truth must no longer be for the rewards; it must no longer be our seeking a creed to follow, but it must be our living a life. – H. Emilie Cady
Our Minister
Rev. Richard A. Pacheco is a family man married for over 20 years with four beautiful children. Richard graduated from the Unity Urban Ministerial school in 2018 and was ordained by Unity Worldwide Ministries in 2021. Furthering his education, Richard became a Prayer Chaplain Trainer. He earned an Advanced Metaphysics certificate through UUMS and later a Bachelor of Metaphysics from the University of Metaphysics/University of Sedona. During his time with Unity of NEPA, he held many hats, including webmaster, social media manager, sound, and technology, speaker, board president, service facilitator and Y.O.U. Sponsor.
His introduction to Unity came from an audio conference aptly named “Prosperity,” where the author quotes co-founder Charles Filmore as he exclaimed, “It’s a sin to be poor.” This one sentence led Richard to examine Unity Worldwide Ministries and find Unity of NEPA in his neighborhood.
Outside of his Unity Background in his pursuit to serve others, he also became a Certified Master Life Coach, Spiritual Life Coach, Certified Teen Meditation Instructor, and his love of healing as a Reiki Master Teacher.
Our Worship Leader & More
Alicia Pacheco is a young lady who at an early age discovered the love of serving others. With her gifted voice, she has blessed many in celebration service and other events. She has become a Reiki practitioner and is working toward becoming a life coach.
She started her love for Unity teachings at an early age and has aspired to do so much more for the movement. She has participated in the creation of many events and has plans for so much more.
Her first visit to Unity Village was life-changing and she can’t wait to return. This is why she has decided to play a role in this communities’ success with music and upcoming youth program and other special projects to help benefit the learning process of our younger generation.
Unity’s Five Basic Principles
We encourage you to explore and apply Unity teachings based on your own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation. The five basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system are:
- There is only one Presence and one Power active as the Universe and in my life. God the Good.
- Our essence is of God; therefore we are inherently good. This God essence was fully expressed in Jesus, the Christ.
- We are co-creators with God, creating reality through thoughts held in Mind.
- Through prayer and meditation, we align our heart-mind with God. Denials and affirmations are tools we use.
- Through thoughts, words, and actions, we live the Truth we know.
Who is Jesus to us?
We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. We see Jesus as a master teacher of universal truths and as our Way-Shower. In Unity, we use the term “Christ” to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression.
What do we think about the nature of mankind?
We are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our essential nature is divine and therefore inherently good. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other master teachers. The more we awaken to our divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives.
How do we study the Bible?
Unity cofounders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore studied the Bible as history and allegory, and interpreted it as a metaphysical representation of humankind’s evolutionary journey toward spiritual awakening. In addition, Unity recognizes that the Bible is a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor the writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written. The Bible continues to be a valuable spiritual resource for us.
What are our Unity teachings?
Unity teaches that each person is a unique expression of God created with sacred worth. Living from that awareness transforms our lives and the world. Unity emphasizes the creative power of thought in our life experience. We refer to this as the Law of Mind Action. When we take personal responsibility to choose life-affirming thoughts, words and actions, we experience a more fulfilling and abundant life. Unity emphasizes the importance of applying spiritual principles in our daily lives. Unity teachings continue to evolve as we identify, embrace and apply spiritual insights and the spiritual implications of new discoveries.
What is prayer and meditation for Unity?
Affirmative prayer is the highest form of creative thought. It includes the release of counterproductive, negative thoughts, as well as holding in mind statements of spiritual truth. Through meditation, we experience the presence of God. Prayer and meditation heighten our awareness and thereby transform our lives.
